Royal Palace Seafood Restaurant is a well-established Chinese restaurant located on East Hastings Street in Vancouver, known for offering a broad menu that spans traditional dim sum, seafood, and classic Cantonese dishes. The dining experience here leans toward full-service, family-style meals that cater well to groups and multi-generational gatherings looking for sizeable portions and a variety of flavors under one roof.

The atmosphere is lively, especially during dim sum service and weekend dinners, with a steady flow of diners that suggests it’s a popular spot for locals who appreciate authentic, no-frills Cantonese cooking. The space includes private rooms, which are often used for larger group dinners or celebrations, sometimes accompanied by mahjong or karaoke, adding a casual, community-oriented layer to the dining experience.

One of the appealing aspects of Royal Palace is the extensive menu variety. Signature offerings like Steamed Pork Shao Mai with Fish Roe showcase its attention to classic dim sum staples, while dishes such as the crispy skin chicken (脆皮烧鸡皇) and sole fish fillet with scallions in supreme soy sauce (京葱头抽龙利柳) highlight a focus on skillfully prepared, balanced flavors typical of Cantonese cuisine. For those interested in seafood, options like the King Crab Fried Rice or hearty congee varieties, including a whole lobster option, underline the restaurant’s commitment to using fresh ingredients and delivering meals with rich textures and comforting profiles.

Visitors report that service is attentive without being overbearing, often guiding diners away from over-ordering while making sure portions are substantial enough to satisfy. The restaurant’s layout and pace of service suit both casual midweek meals and more festive weekend affairs, creating a versatile setting within Vancouver’s diverse dining scene.

Royal Palace appeals mostly to locals who enjoy traditional Chinese fare and those who seek a reliable place for sharing an array of dishes in a communal setting. The best times to visit are weekday dim sum hours when the pace is steadier, or for larger groups during dinner, when the private rooms and larger dish options elevate the experience beyond the typical restaurant outing.

I came here for dinner after having dimsum a couple of weeks ago. At dimsum If your bill was over $100 they give u a receipt to get a free chicken at dinner. I came with my family on a Monday night and the place was packed. We opted to try their Peking duck combo with 5 additional dishes for $230. For Vancouver prices i thought that was a steal. Portions were pretty large and alot of dishes had to be packed. Their soy sauce chicken is usually really good but I forgot to preorder when I made the reservation so they gave us a steamed chicken instead. Older folks usually enjoy this more. The sweet and sour pork jowl was the highlight for me. Crispy on the outside and soft on inside with the sauce spot on with flavor. After ordering I noticed their king crab 3 ways was selling at just $368. Next time I would just order that with fewer ppl eating. As for service...I thought they were shorthanded but that is normal for most chinese restaurants.

Attended a group dinner in one of their private rooms with about 15 people total. Some of our group arrived several hours early and played mahjong and sung karaoke before the rest of the group arrived for dinner. We ordered about a dozen of the most popular dishes to share and all were freshly cooked, tasty and decent sized servings. Everyone ate well and still had some left over. It worked out to less than $40 per person for over 5 hours use of this private room and a very good meal. Definitely a good value. Only minor complaint was the loudness of the Karaoke music machine. We wanted to have some background music during the meal, but the lowest volume setting was still far too loud.

First time coming here as we were nearby on a Monday morning. Dimsum apparently is 10% off all the time? Only the dimsum part and not the specials. Phoenix claws - wow the portion is generous. And only the claw part so it's even more. Taste is done well. Soy sauce stir fried crystal noodles - I knew I wouldnt enjoy it because the term soy sauce stir fry noodles only have beansprouts and minimal things. It has red onions, green onions and bean sprouts. Taste is as good as a soy sauce stir fry gets haha. I didn't like that some noodles were still giant rolls and they didn't undo them. This means more bland noodles. Pan fried bean curd wrap - this is the first time seeing it in this form. Usually its a smaller in side and individually rolled. They rolled a giant one and cut them in half diagonally. This makes all the filling fall out. I like that they put a lot of mushrooms in it but again, it falls everywhere. They dont charge for tea so that is a plus. There is a small parkade behind.

All of the serving staff was great today. The young slender male waiter provided exceptional service. Made sure we didn't order too much. We ordered the Peking duck + 2 items, 2 bowls of white rice and Crab Meat with Fish Maw Soup. Chef's Specialty Soup Of The Day. Oops, I forgot to take a photo of it before it was served. It was super tasty and had a lot of ingredients. Sauteed Prawns & Scallops with Greens. Deep Fried Pork Chops W/Salted Plum Sauce was made perfectly! Wished it had more pieces of plum though. The peking duck was sliced into small pieces. It was to be eating with the thin crepe. Then the meat that was left on the duck was used to make the lettuce wrap which had duck meat, water chestnut, green onion and crispy wonton wrap pieces. Tasty! Dessert was green bean dessert and almond cookies.

We stumbled upon this restaurant on YouTube so we weren’t too sure what to expect. As foodies, we’re a tad particular. However, all 6 of us were blown away by the quality and service. The flavours were so good. Every single dish was better than what we expected. We’ll definitely return.

Maybe the 5 stars is an over exaggeration but also maybe not - for the price, quality and quantity of food, this place is a winner for sure. Our group of 4 came here after seeing it was always busy and the parking lot was full even on weekdays. This place is a typical Chinese banquet hall that looks like they do dim sum on weekends and feels like it could even host a small wedding - and a smaller 6 table room in a different area of the restaurant. The menu was expansive, as expected, but the dinner combos really caught our eye. We ordered the lobster combo, which came with five other dishes for a price that honestly felt like a steal of a deal. The seafood vermicelli was the real crowd-pleaser. If I had to rate the dishes, it would be the following: 1. Seafood vermicelli (very flavourful and not dry) 2. Sweet and sour pork (crispy and meaty) 3. Ground pork and eggplant (saucy and big portions) 4. Beef and Gailan (a staple and really good - I've been to places where the gailan is bitter and chewy because they kept the ends on - this place cut it off at the right spots and the dish was good) 5. Lobster with sticky rice (This one is a personal preference but I like fluffy rice and more of a crab person) 6. Soy glazed chicken (This one is the bottom on my list but in no way a bad choice, I just liked the others above this) Service was smooth. One of our group spoke Cantonese, but the staff's English was spot-on, so no translation needed. They kept things moving and didn't miss a beat. The meal kicked off with a soup and wrapped up with a dessert--both not in the pictures but both very appreciated. With places like this - with such an expansive menu, I feel like its hard to go wrong, but there are some key winners that would change some people's opinions from a 3- or 4- star review to a 5, so definitely check out the ones I listed above!

Food was good. Service could be improved. Took a while to flag down a waiter even after they looked and made eye contact with me. Server also put in the wrong order and tried to get us to take it with a minor discount.
